Episode #89 "...But I've Met Namor, So Would You Like to Come Over For Cookies?"

January 31 2012 Episode #89 opening with rucka punisher, we like it but it's strange to see
a red puking vulture. weird. We then wonder about Ennis' legacy to mainstream comics; Then we move out to Unwritten, where we actually use the word "parse" without irony; talk about good long runs briefly and who did what with them; and the dangers that go with them. Like Bendis. We take some live tweets like namor and aquaman; Kick-Ass 2 sparks a nasty debate where Tech gets seriously uncomfortable. It's a roundabout conversation that ends in a vow not to buy kick ass again. although Superior IS a lot of fun and we *are* looking forward to that. There's a contrast there that's difficult to handle. Brilliant bores us terribly. We talk about Batgirl,Fear Itself finally completes. Fiction naming conventions piss me off. We SO look forward to the DEFENDERS! And SO. MUCH. MORE Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @themeanergeek , Fan Advisory Network, leave us voicemail at 203 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com

Episode #88 "I am Doom, and you two are Bitches"

January 16 2012 Episode #88 Bad Zombie Movies start us off. And end us. We didn't really like Re-Tar-Dead. RIP Jerry Robinson. We start live tweeting during casting! TechJedi reveals that D and D first edition is new at his house. Kicking off some comics, we start with J.I.M. 628-630, tailing off fear itself and seeing consequences. Volstag enthralls us and we adore his characterization under gillen..I get a new nickname. Then over to thor with tiny little bald preist and Galactus. We get meta-physical with the new herald of Galactus. FF is next, where we find that although Diablo and Mad Thinker had gotten the drop on Doom, these villains need to be pumped up. We don't like kids named bentley, especially as clones of villains. No one understands how Hawkeye still gets play. Segueing with that we get NEAL ADAMS AVENGERS! WOW. Why is ultimo still around? We answer some tweets. We mourn DCs previously bad habits with female heroes. We have a shatner riff. Top 5 semi-indie books. Our last Secret Avengers. Spider Island is a quick read we like a lot, but TechJedi quibbles at the "innoulation" of mary jane. Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @themeanergeek , Fan Advisory Network, leave us voicemail at 203 533 4910 and mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com

Episode #87 "Water-Based Kid-Killing Ghost-Thing."

January 3 2012 Episode #87 In episode 87 we determine that Batman pooping himself is unacceptable. Detail a plan for subsidizing blurays; look forward to BATMAN:YEAR ONE; Techjedi tones down his enthusiasm. Having established that, we look at THE MIGHTY THOR, with the incredible shrinking pastor; hop over to the OTHER fraction godlike entity that is IRON MAN, lament the reaching that happens at the end of long runs; leading us to AVENGERS, where we determine interview style storytelling is getting stale; we note victoria hand's future; we re-cover the losses of losing bucky. We're confused by mockingbirds' status with hawkeye; shocked by hammers going THROUGH PEOPLE; lament again the speed at which you can fall behind in comics. Then it's a very long discussion of all things fear itself; switching gears completely, rev hates JLI and TechJedi wants to give it a go. Godiva? Really? Unfortunately it's just not funny. It also hurts my brain to try to figure out DCNU continuity. Then we launch into the comics written by the FUCKING MAXIM STAFF. Wonder Woman! BATMAN! SNYDER! and SO. MUCH. MORE.
Episode #84 "The Eradicator is Un-Eradicatable. Yeah, I Went There."

November 17 2011 Episode #84 Starting with TechJedi’s experiences with Star Wars blu-rays. The pros and cons of calling people shmucks. More blu ray craziness. TJ reasserts his need to move forward without geek speculation. The history of fan forum doofiness. We finally get to some DCNU stuff. Then onto Future foundation, which we’ve finally taken a shine to; Rev requests Dan Slott does FF; question Black Bolt’s matrimonial choices. It may sound at points we hate it, but no, we really do like it. It’s individual points we take a hit on. We argue about Reed’s presumptuousness. We move forward and reiterate our love for Unwritten, covering the Tinker arc; then we yap about a dozen or so issues of GL related items. Yeeessh. I make up and abortive rating system. Again. Moving then to Kick-Ass 2 #3, where we find Millar has no filter. Go through Action 900. The Last Superman/Batman. And then, oh, awesomesauce-AMERICAN VAMPIRE-SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. Men of War disappoints us. JLA. And. So. Much. More.
Episode #83 "It Was Some Kind of Anti-Treat"

November 8 2011 Episode #83 Covering Comiconn again, discussing birthday presents, then make up our own answers to "The Biggest Questions of the DC Reboot". Moving on to team dynamics, the mystery was killing us with the timelines. Then lament the decline, citing average Thor sales figures from 1986. Whine and bitch about events. We then launch into an uncharacteristicly philosophical turn into where quality lies along the axis of comic creation runs-talking about david, moore, simonson, brubaker, JMS, and the other side of that same coin. We question when writers run thin...we discovered the movie universe marvel one shots and were thoroughly under-impressed. King of Fighters was watched this whole time, and it bored us to tears. Moving on to American Vampire, then the fabulous storyline for the Tinker in Unwritten; during this we define our purchasing habits vis a vis trade/floppies. And....who's the most important sidekick in the world? SCRAPPY-DOUCHE. We note the awesomeness that was Secret Warriors. and so much more. Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @themeanergeek , Fan Advisory Network, leave us voicemail at 203 533 4910, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com

Episode #82 "ICONIC IN IT'S DEPTHS OF SUCKTITUDE"

October 18 2011 Episode #82 We're late, it's true, but we wanted some of the heat to cool down from the disaster that was the heated arguments and diatribes sparked by summers' announcements, such as Miles Morales, the dirth of female creators in the new 52, and note the rise of non-humorous incivility due to the internet. We were disaapointed. Move the fuck on and grow up and be human to each other. We then move on ourselves and I do a small review of the anime Claymore. Moving on we catch up with the line ups of the DCnU. We make some initial decisions on what we might wanna buy, which gets shaken out in a couple episodes. I hate Grant Morrison again. We WERE RIGHT ABOUT SCOTT LOBDELL! Then i make the announcement that i will no longer get crossovers just to get a full story. Come check us out on Facebook, twitter @themeanergeek , Fan Advisory Network, leave us voicemail at 203 533 4910, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com

Episode #81 “Natures' Dumb Ass.”

October 10 2011 Episode #81 It starts of with mother jokes. Then minor definitions of dangers of cons; we watch the 1967 Aquaman series, where the MANTA-MEN are the worst henchmen on the planet. Then, for the last time, we argue the merits is Zatanna. I still dug it, he's still a douche. Then sleeping vikings in an underwater cave. Jusssst. Just duplicate the Zatanna argument with I Zombie. We then launch into song and dance. Marvel at how a team can stay together on a book. Then notice that Narwhals are boring through undersea mountains. Then, in a vain attempt to move past my morrison fixation, i read a really bad book. Then, we look at an ancient necrosha 1 shot so i could say i read an x book this year. Great Gastropods! More Aquaman badness. I question the hair products chosen by the aqua-guys. Then Star Wars, and its green bunnies. Cover then the BatBooks. Then we go Blaxploitation with Thor and the Surfer. Sif's hot. We may have alienated Matt Fraction as well. Lambaste Cap Corps. Let's just leave you with this: THE CRIMSON CREATURE FROM THE PINK POOL.
Episode #80 “I Bring The Dumb.”

September 21 2011 Episode #80 Sorry bout the audio on TechJedi's side. We start with some movies we saw-THE HORDE, french zombie flick of insane proportions, and The DogHouse, strange zombie brit flick. ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES!, (with hookers) and Zombies Anonymous. You should look up the first two, and avoid the other three. Then we started wathcing Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes! which we determined to be goddamned awesome. We talk X-men: First Class, which the Rev finds to be pretty much the epitome of all things geek movie-that being: JAMES BOND: MUTANT. Then Tech goes on to try to deal with his Morrison issues by getting a couple tpb's of his X-Men run; all this while watching Masters of Horror. Then we move on to Green Lantern, which Tech enjoyed immensely but Rev felt was only one CBU. We debate the merits of given constructs to save helicopters; so much more. After a while we hit Ruse, and find it Competent But Unremarkable. I kick it wayyyy back to All Star Batman as well. We also note that we are full supporters and backers of Womanthology. Go look it up. You had to have heard of it by now. and so. much. more. Give us a shout at 203 533 4910, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, join us on Facebook and Twitter.

Episode #78 “Have a Fruit Smoothie, And Go To Bed.”

August 16 2011 Episode #78 Starting with a disgusting discussion on catshit, we move on to The Pile. Starting with Morrison's Batman Inc 6, with the Emoticons, which, you know, made me retch; marvel at how halo and looker can be stealth; preferring a Bat-Mite book from Morrison. We then find Nick Fury essentially wrote Genesis that he's been around so long manipulating things...then, we sigh, was disappointed by Herc: Fear Itself... swim in the warm, welcoming waters of the last Herc book...got through the magic auction of Unwritten, which, so you know, we dug the frig out of, then continue a Vertigo love fest in Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love, then experience a falling of crests with Vader and the Lost Command, question how the Emperor let him puss out so long; moving along to Snyders' Detective, with the strange reveal we see...Batman starts to look up; get driven up the wall be revisionist plots....and really, what we want to see is Odin and Galactus throw down. Avengers 1059 rocked too. Seriously, get that shit. Give us a shout at 203 533 4910, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, join us on Facebook and Twitter.

Episode #75 "...And Nick Cage Will Be In My Stocking. I Can't Have That!"

June 21 2011 Episode #75.1 "...And Nick Cage Will Be In My Stocking. I Can't Have That!" we make fun of ian. but he isn't reading or listening anyway. :P We introduce Gobble-Con to the World, Connecticut's premiere anime/steampunk/comic/comic cosplay con. Rev admits he got trapped in FF?? and gave up; Kevin Smiths' departure from film; talk about Hickman's Pax Romana, cleaned up at a small show with 5 trades at 2 each, so who knows Exiles?! Moving on to new books we cover Amazing Spider Man, uniforms in super teams, opposing each other in our views; note how spidey is actually going backwards but we like it nonetheless; look at Spider-Man-The One; remember what annuals used to be like, wonder when they will run out of secret nazi bases, and now...now..what would happen if everyone just swapped books-bendis, brubacker, fraction, all moving left and did each others books. So much more. I apologize for the running over of the two clips for those few seconds. thought i had them aligned but im just lame. Give a listen!
Episode #74 "Like Jimmy Olsen on a 4 Day Bender!”

June 13 2011 Episode #74 BS Episode-Alternate Title-”Do Not Speak Ill of the Fabulous Frog Man” TechJedi goes through his now complete run through BioShock, contrast our playing styles, spending farrr too much time on it, since it’s like a thousand years old. Quit DC U Online before the hack; then we run through some serious ancient history going through OHOTMU, wherein we are shocked about how much ink given the most obscure characters were getting. We note Cloak, Cloud, The Defenders, Cobra, delve into some character trivia as a result, cover the FIVE CRIMSON DYNAMOS, note Tech’s love of schematics; man, it’s a hot mess of old story lines, unused groups, and arcane references. You’ll need your own OHOTMU to follow along…love us. Give a listen Come visit at www.themeangeek.com, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, or leave us a Skype message at 203 533 4910

Episode #73 "Beacons of Awesomeness!”

June 6 2011 Episode #73 The Rev saw Sucker Punch, and felt like that’s what happened, *I* saw Battle: L.A. and I feel like a veteran. I go on to great lengths about the tropes and horrifying re-use of COLOSSALLY STUPID SHIT, abandonment of the concepts of physics, the old soldiers’ guilt, and so much more. Then we run off and cover the first year of Strike Force Morituri (yeah, I’m back to that) and do a little bit of reminiscing. Differences in opinion as seen from a geek perspective and sportos; Con plans for the year; and then finally jump into books, including Cap, with that Silly Sin during The Trial of Bucky, Ultimate Cap and the phenom that is current Ron Garney; Casanova and it’s spyfreakiness; Thor 620, and somehow, just somehow, channels Andrew Dice Clay. Batman inc, the Bane of my Bats existence; would prefer Captain Carnation, bitch about obscure litereary terms never FREAKIN USED IN LIFE..oh god. It’s fun. Plus the Greatest Book This Year is Avengers 1959. Give a listen Come visit at www.themeangeek.com, mail us at themeanergeek@gmail.com, or leave us a Skype message at 203 533 4910

November 22 2010 Episode #58 We revisit our never-ending love of Sherlock Holmes; not the silliness of Howard the Duck's return, wax rhapsodic about W.A.S.P, forget the point of Emerald Warriors, running commentary on Constantine and the history of TechJedi's Hellblazer associations, and, you know, really, can the GL books and Brightest Day get more slow and plodding? seriously. they wont move. Super Soldiers finishes in a Dallas like-fake plot move, forget that this podcast is an audio medium regarding facial hair; mourn greg giraldo; look at Avengers which lacks the requisite pym beatings; and soooo much more.
